*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Rosskreppfjorden is a large, upland reservoir in Agder County and typically has cooler water temperatures than lowland lakes. In summer the surface can warm enough for open-water bathing, often ranging roughly from 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) on calm afternoons, though deeper or wind-exposed areas remain cooler. In late spring and early autumn surface temperatures commonly sit between about 0–10 °C (32–50 °F) as snowmelt and cool nights dominate. During winter the lake usually freezes or sits at near-freezing temperatures, with water at or just above 0 °C (32 °F) beneath ice; such conditions are unsuitable for casual swimming.
Swimming at Rosskreppfjorden is generally possible under Norway’s access traditions, but conditions and local regulations matter. The reservoir character means fluctuating water levels, cold deep water, and potential outflow currents near dam structures, so swimming is not advised close to intakes, spillways or when ice is present. There are typically no lifeguards, and hypothermia or cold-water shock are real risks outside the warmest weeks, so most people only swim briefly in summer or as experienced cold-water bathers with proper precautions.
