*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Botsvatn in Agder County is a freshwater lake whose surface temperature follows the seasonal rhythm typical for southern Norwegian inland waters. In spring the water is cold as the ice melts and temperatures commonly range from about 0–8 °C (32–46 °F). During summer, surface temperatures typically warm to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), with the warmest, shallow bays sometimes reaching low twenties on hot sunny spells (around 22 °C / 72 °F). In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), and in winter the surface often sits at or very near freezing, about 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) where ice can form.
Swimming in Botsvatn is generally permitted because it is a publicly accessible body of water; many people use the lake for bathing and recreation in the warmer months. Caution is advised, however: the water can remain brisk even in summer and sudden cold-water shock is possible, deeper areas stay colder, and some places near dams, inflows or infrastructure may be restricted for safety. Visitors should check local signage, consider wetsuits for longer swims, and avoid ice-covered water unless properly equipped and knowledgeable about ice safety.
