*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Vjosa (Albanian: Vjosa) in Gjirokastër County is fed by mountain snowmelt and springs, so its water temperature varies considerably through the year and by location. In winter the main channel commonly registers around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), rising in spring to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as flows moderate. Summer temperatures in slower, shallow stretches can reach about 16–24 °C (61–75 °F), while faster, deeper sections remain cooler. In autumn the river typically cools to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Local conditions such as recent rainfall, time of day and the presence of sun-warmed pools create microclimates that make some spots noticeably warmer than the main current.
Swimming in the Vjosa is commonly practiced in accessible, calm sections during the warmer months because those areas can be safe and pleasant for bathing. However, there is no universal prohibition: whether swimming is advisable depends on seasonal flow, visible currents and local rules; some stretches lie within protected or conservation zones where restrictions or advisories may apply. Because infrastructure and lifeguarding are limited, visitors should assess conditions carefully, avoid high-flow periods after storms or during snowmelt, and choose sheltered pools or river beaches when entering the water.
