** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Around Përmet in Gjirokastër County the most notable waters are the thermal pools of Benja and the cold, clear stretches of the Vjosa and Lengarica rivers and their small adjoining ponds. Temperatures in the thermal pools commonly range from about 28–36 °C (82–97 °F) year-round, making them comfortably warm even in winter. The river-fed lakes and ponds are much cooler: in summer they typically warm to roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), in spring and autumn they sit around 10–16 °C (50–61 °F), and in winter can drop to approximately 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). These are approximate seasonal ranges and local conditions (shading, depth, recent rainfall) will affect exact values.
Swimming is generally possible and popular in the thermal pools throughout the year because of the stable warm temperatures. Swimming in the Vjosa, Lengarica and small lake-like spots is commonly done in late spring through early autumn when temperatures are milder, but users should exercise caution because cold water, sudden currents and varying depths increase risk. Local signage, private facilities and the protected status of parts of the Vjosa may also impose rules or advisories, so visitors are advised to follow posted guidance and local advice before entering the water.
