*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Osum River, known in Albanian as Lumi i Osumit, flows through Berat County and is fed by mountain springs and seasonal snowmelt, which strongly affects its temperature. Typical seasonal water temperatures range from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) in winter, 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) in spring, 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in summer, and 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) in autumn. Shaded canyon stretches and faster-flowing sections remain cooler year-round, while wider, slower pools exposed to the sun can reach the upper part of the summer range. Sudden weather changes and upstream runoff can cause rapid temperature shifts, especially in spring when snowmelt is strongest.
Swimming in the Osum is possible and commonly practiced in accessible, calmer spots, particularly during the warmest months when surface temperatures are most comfortable. However, many canyon sections are not suitable for casual swimming because of strong currents, submerged rocks, steep banks, and limited exit points; some areas are used for organized rafting and canyoning with guides and safety equipment. There are generally no lifeguards, and water quality can deteriorate after heavy rain, so local signage, common-sense precautions, and respect for private property and environmental protection are important when deciding where and when to swim.
