*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Shushicë River (Lumi i Shushicës) in Vlorë County typically shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature, influenced by altitude, flow rate and proximity to the coast. In winter, temperatures commonly range from about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), while spring sees a rise to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as snowmelt and rains feed the river. Summer is when the river is warmest, with surface temperatures often between 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in lower, slower stretches; upstream and shaded sections remain cooler. In autumn temperatures generally fall back to around 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). Local weather, recent precipitation and time of day can cause notable short-term fluctuations, and the mouth of the river near the coast tends to be warmer than mountain-fed reaches.
Swimming in the Shushicë is possible in many places, particularly during the warmer summer months when surface temperatures are most comfortable for bathing. However, whether swimming is advisable depends on site-specific conditions: strong currents, variable depths, submerged obstacles and occasional water-quality issues can make some stretches unsafe. Slower, deeper pools and lower reaches closer to sea level are more frequently used for recreation, but swimmers should assess flow, clarity and local guidance before entering the water. Authorities or locals can provide up-to-date information about access and safety.
