*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Shkumbin (in Albanian, Shkumbinit) in Korçë County is a generally cool, fast-moving river whose temperature reflects altitude, season and flow. Typical winter temperatures in shaded, higher-altitude stretches commonly range from about 3–7 °C (37–45 °F), while spring values climb to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as snowmelt and warming air raise flows. In summer, slower pools and lowland reaches can warm to roughly 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), though faster channels and spring-fed sections often remain noticeably cooler. During autumn the water usually cools again into the 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) band as rainfall and lower air temperatures reduce surface heating.
Swimming is possible in parts of the Shkumbin during warm months where calm pools and lower currents exist, but it is neither organized nor universally permitted as a formal recreational amenity. Safety considerations—cold temperature in many areas, strong currents after rains, variable depth, lack of lifeguards and occasional water-quality issues—make local assessment important before entering the water. Upstream, less developed stretches tend to be cleaner; downstream sections can be affected by agriculture or settlements. Visitors should follow local guidance, respect private property and avoid swimming when flows are high or temperatures are low to reduce the risk of hypothermia and accidents.
