** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Río Ega, a river that runs through Navarre in northern Spain, tends to be relatively cool year-round because it is fed by upland runoff and springs. Typical seasonal surface water temperatures can range roughly from 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) in winter, 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) in spring, 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in summer and 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) in autumn. Local conditions—depth, shading, flow rate and recent rainfall—produce variations: shallow, sunlit pools warm more in summer, while fast-flowing reaches and upstream sections remain noticeably colder.
Swimming in the Río Ega is possible in many stretches and locals often bathe in calmer pools during warm months, but it is not universally regulated as an official bathing area. Whether swimming is advisable depends on water quality monitoring, signage, flow conditions and safety considerations; cold temperatures, strong currents and sudden rises after rain can increase risk, and some spots are better suited for wading or short dips than prolonged swimming. Visitors should check local notices, choose sheltered, slow-moving sections and be aware of hypothermia risk even on warm days, particularly in spring and early summer when water remains cool.
