** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Greater Manchester
Audenshaw Reservoirs, on the eastern fringe of Greater Manchester, are temperate bodies of water that stay cool year-round. Typical surface temperatures range from about 4–8°C (39–46°F) in winter, rising to roughly 6–14°C (43–57°F) in spring. In summer the top layer may warm to approximately 14–20°C (57–68°F) on warm spells, while autumn sees cooling back to around 8–14°C (46–57°F). Because the reservoirs are relatively deep and exposed, temperatures vary with weather, wind and depth; even in summer deeper water remains noticeably colder.
Swimming is generally not permitted at Audenshaw Reservoirs. They form part of the local water supply and are managed by the water company, and restrictions protect water quality and reduce hazards such as cold-water shock, hidden currents and underwater obstacles. Consequently wild swimming is discouraged and signage or enforcement is common. Visitors instead use surrounding footpaths and birdwatching spots; nearby towns such as Audenshaw and Ashton-under-Lyne offer cafes and shops, and the local countryside and bridleways provide walking, running and cycling opportunities with views towards the Pennines.
