** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Väsman, a sizeable lake in Dalarna County, typically shows strong seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In spring the water warms from near freezing as ice melts, commonly ranging from about 0–10 °C (32–50 °F) during the thaw period. Summer surface temperatures most often sit between roughly 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), and can occasionally rise to around 24 °C (75 °F) during warm spells. In autumn the lake cools back down, with temperatures generally in the 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) range as the season progresses. In winter the surface is often at or just above 0 °C (32 °F) where ice is present, while liquid water beneath the ice stays near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
Swimming in and around Väsman is commonly possible and undertaken by locals and visitors, because Swedish access rights and available shoreline areas make bathing practicable. However, swimming is subject to practical and safety considerations: water quality should be checked at designated bathing spots, temperatures can be cold outside midsummer so hypothermia is a risk, and ice conditions in winter require caution and appropriate safety measures for ice bathing. Local notices or municipal guidance should be consulted for any temporary restrictions related to water quality, boating or maintenance.
