** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Runn (Swedish: Runn) in Dalarna County experiences pronounced seasonal variation in water temperature. In winter the surface typically sits around 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) and the lake often freezes, while spring warming in May and early June sees temperatures in the range of about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F). During the main bathing season in June through August surface temperatures commonly reach 15–24 °C (59–75 °F), with the warmest readings in shallow bays or during heat waves. In autumn the water cools again to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) before ice returns. Local conditions, wind and sunlight mean temperatures can vary noticeably between exposed open water and sheltered inlets.
Swimming in Runn is allowed and is a popular summer activity, supported by beaches, piers and designated bathing spots around the lake. Water quality is generally assessed by local authorities and posted where necessary, so swimmers are advised to follow local advisories about algal blooms or pollution. In winter the frozen surface enables ice activities and some people practise ice dipping, but that carries added risk and requires proper safety measures; free swimming on open water outside the warmer months is limited by cold temperatures and safety considerations.
