*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Södra Hörken is a small lake in Örebro County whose surface temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern for mid-Sweden. In spring the water usually warms from near freezing to roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as ice melts and sunlight increases. During summer, surface temperatures commonly reach about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), with shallow bays occasionally rising to the low-to-mid 20s °C (73–76 °F) in warm years. In autumn the lake cools back to around 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) before freezing. Winter temperatures are generally close to 0 °C (32 °F) where ice forms; under-ice water can be just above freezing until thaw.
Swimming at Södra Hörken is generally possible and commonly practiced in the warmer months because Swedish right-of-access traditions allow public use of many natural shorelines, and summer temperatures are usually comfortable for bathing. However, local conditions determine safety: water quality, currents in inflow or outflow areas, steep or slippery banks, and ice cover in winter all affect whether it is safe to swim. Ice swimming is occasionally done by experienced people with proper precautions, but during freeze-up and thaw or when authorities post warnings, swimming should be avoided.
