*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Yngen (Swedish: Yngen) in Värmland County typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns of mid-Swedish lakes. In spring surface temperatures commonly range from about 2 to 10 °C (36 to 50 °F) as the lake thaws, while summer daytime temperatures often rise to roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in warm spells, making the water pleasant for most swimmers. Early autumn sees cooling to around 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) before the lake begins to ice over; under the ice in winter the water column is generally around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with surface ice and snow typical from late autumn through early spring depending on the year.
Swimming in Yngen is generally allowed where shore access is available, supported by Sweden’s public right of access (Allemansrätten) that permits recreational use of many natural areas. Recreational bathing is most common in summer when temperatures are comfortable, while spring and autumn are suitable mainly for cold‑water enthusiasts. In winter normal swimming is unsafe because of ice and very cold water, though ice bathing is practiced by experienced people with proper precautions. Always observe local signage, check water quality if posted, and use caution regarding depth, currents and ice thickness.
