** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Trasona, near Avilés in Asturias, is a relatively shallow, open reservoir shaped by Atlantic climate influences, which keeps its water cooler than inland lakes further south. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) in winter, rising to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) in spring. In summer the water can warm to approximately 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on warm days, while autumn values usually fall between 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as air temperatures decline. These figures are approximate and local conditions such as recent rainfall, wind and depth can change temperatures by several degrees.
Swimming at the Embalse de Trasona is generally not encouraged as a regular recreational activity; the reservoir functions as a managed sporting and water resource area (centro de remo and technical facilities), and local rules, safety concerns and occasional water-quality checks can restrict bathing. Motorized craft, rowing traffic and submerged infrastructure create hazards, and authorities may prohibit open-water swimming to protect both people and the water supply. Visitors should follow posted signs and municipal guidance; those seeking a swim in the region are better served by supervised beaches on the Asturian coast or designated inland bathing areas with lifeguards and official water-quality monitoring.
