*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Embalse de Casares, located in Castile and León, is a man-made reservoir whose surface water temperatures follow the region’s continental climate. In winter the reservoir’s surface commonly ranges from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring and autumn are typically milder at roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). In the warmest months the top layer of water can warm to approximately 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), though deeper water remains much colder year-round due to thermal stratification. Actual temperatures vary with recent weather, wind, reservoir depth and inflow, so surface readings can change quickly after heat waves or cold snaps.
Swimming opportunities at Embalse de Casares are limited by its status as a managed reservoir. Many reservoirs in Spain are subject to restrictions for reasons of water quality, potable supply, dam safety and sudden currents or submerged hazards; for that reason swimming is often discouraged or officially prohibited except in designated areas when local authorities permit it. Even where bathing occurs informally in summer, swimmers should be cautious of cold deeper water, steep drop-offs and boat traffic, and comply with any posted regulations and safety advice.
