** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse del Valle, a reservoir in Asturias, typically shows cool water temperatures shaped by the region’s maritime climate and mountain-fed inflows. Surface temperatures in summer often reach roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on warm days, though deeper water remains noticeably colder. In spring the surface is commonly around 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as snowmelt and rains feed the reservoir, while autumn temperatures tend to fall back to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Winter surface temperatures are usually in the range of 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). These values can vary with annual weather, water level and stratification; wind, shade from the surrounding landscape and inflows from cooler mountain streams all keep reservoir waters cooler than nearby coastal beaches.
Swimming in and around Embalse del Valle is subject to local rules and practical constraints, and in many reservoirs of this type it is discouraged or formally restricted. Reasons include its role in water supply, which raises water-quality protection concerns, as well as safety issues such as steep banks, submerged obstacles, sudden depth changes, cold temperatures at depth and occasional boat or maintenance traffic. When informal bathing does occur in summer, climactic conditions can make short swims comfortable at the surface, but users should be aware of local signage and regulations and the potential hazards of cold, deep reservoir water.
