*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Alfilorios, near Oviedo in Asturias, typically has cool freshwater temperatures that vary with season, weather and depth. In winter surface temperatures often fall into the range of about 6–9 °C (43–48 °F). In spring they commonly rise to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as days lengthen and runoff decreases. Summer surface temperatures can reach approximately 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on warm spells, though deeper water remains noticeably colder. During autumn the lake usually cools back to around 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). These are general seasonal bands: local conditions, recent rain, and reservoir release regimes can shift values by several degrees, and temperature stratification means deeper layers stay colder than the surface.
Swimming at Embalse de Alfilorios is subject to restrictions and local regulations because many reservoirs in Asturias serve as part of drinking-water systems and have safety considerations. Official bathing may be prohibited or discouraged to protect water quality, prevent contamination, and reduce risks related to sudden depth changes, submerged structures and boat traffic. Informal recreational use has been reported in warmer months, but visitors should check posted rules and municipal guidance before entering the water; complying with signage helps protect both public health and the resource.
