** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lago de Enol, one of the glacial lakes in the Picos de Europa of Asturias, typically has cold water year‑round because of its high elevation and mountain inflows. Seasonal surface temperatures in winter often sit around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and in spring rise to roughly 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as snowmelt feeds the basin. In summer the lake can warm slightly on sunny days, with typical surface ranges near 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) and occasional peaks approaching 16–17 °C (61–63 °F) in the warmest spells. Autumn temperatures usually fall back to about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as the weather cools and rainfall increases, so even in summer the water remains brisk.
Swimming at Lago de Enol is technically possible but is generally discouraged and subject to park rules and safety considerations. The lake lies within the protected area of Picos de Europa, where authorities and conservationists aim to minimize human impact on fragile ecosystems; this has led to local restrictions at times and strong recommendations against bathing. Beyond legal and environmental reasons, the main deterrent is safety: cold water increases the risk of hypothermia and makes swimming hazardous, especially given sudden mountain weather changes and limited rescue access. Visitors are advised to respect signage and local guidance and to avoid prolonged immersion.
