** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Salime, in western Asturias on the Navia River, is a deep, narrow reservoir whose surface temperatures vary strongly with season, weather and depth. In summer the top layer of water commonly warms to about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) and can occasionally approach 25 °C (77 °F) during heat spells. Spring and early autumn typically see surface values around 10–17 °C (50–63 °F) and 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) respectively, while winter temperatures at the surface often fall into the 5–10 °C range (41–50 °F). These figures are approximate: colder, oxygenated deeper water remains much cooler and inflows from the river or heavy rain can lower temperatures quickly.
Swimming at the Embalse de Salime is not organized around official, lifeguarded beaches; informal bathing and paddlesports occur, but there are no widespread designated bathing areas and local rules may restrict access. Restrictions or cautions are in place because the reservoir is managed for hydroelectric production and water supply, so levels can change rapidly, and submerged structures and strong currents near the dam pose hazards. Water quality is periodically monitored, but conditions vary, so authorities and signage should be checked before entering; many visitors therefore swim only in calm, sheltered arms and do so with caution.
