** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Tåkern (Swedish: Tåkern) in Östergötland County is a shallow, reed-fringed lake whose surface temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In spring (April–May) water typically ranges from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the lake thaws and begins to warm. Early summer (June) often sees 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), with peak summer months (July–August) commonly reaching 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in shallower bays on warm years. In autumn (September–October) temperatures generally fall to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), and in winter the lake is often at or near freezing, around 0 °C (32 °F) with ice cover common from December to March.
Swimming in and around Tåkern is physically possible where shorelines allow access, but the lake is also a protected bird habitat and much of its shoreline is sensitive. Because the area is managed for birdlife, certain zones may be off-limits or have restrictions—especially during the spring and early summer breeding season—to avoid disturbance. Visitors should therefore heed local signs and rules: recreational bathing is not broadly banned by default, but access can be limited to protect nesting birds and fragile reedbeds, and practical access points for safe swimming are relatively few.
