Roxen is a shallow lake in Östergötland County, Sweden, known locally by its Swedish name Roxen. Water temperatures vary strongly with the seasons and with wind and weather. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures typically range from about 2 to 10 °C (36 to 50 °F). In summer (June–August) the surface commonly warms to roughly 16 to 23 °C (61 to 73 °F), though sheltered bays can be a few degrees warmer and deeper or wind-exposed areas remain cooler. In autumn (September–October) temperatures usually fall to about 6 to 14 °C (43 to 57 °F). In winter the lake often approaches freezing, with surface readings near 0 to 4 °C (32 to 39 °F) and occasional ice cover during cold periods.
Swimming in Roxen is generally allowed under Sweden’s public access rules and many people bathe from shores, small beaches and piers during the warmer months.
