Hjälmaren, a large lake in Örebro County, typically shows pronounced seasonal variation in surface water temperature. During winter months the lake often sits around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and can be ice-covered for periods, while spring temperatures rise through April–May to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts.
