*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Powers Lake in Minnesota follows the familiar seasonal pattern of small, inland lakes in the region. In spring the surface typically warms from near freezing up to roughly 35–60°F (2–15°C) as ice melts and snowmelt cools the water. Summer surface temperatures commonly range from about 65–80°F (18–27°C) on warm days, with shallower bays warming most quickly and deeper spots staying a few degrees cooler. In fall the lake cools back toward 50–65°F (10–18°C) before ice begins to form; during winter the surface usually freezes and open-water temperatures are at or just above freezing, with water beneath ice often around 34–39°F (1–4°C).
Swimming at Powers Lake is generally possible where there is public or private access, and many people swim there in summer when surface temperatures are in the comfortable mid-60s to upper 70s °F (about 18–27°C). Whether swimming is allowed depends on local access rights, posted rules, and current conditions: water-quality advisories, blue-green-algae blooms, strong currents near inlets, and ice cover in shoulder seasons can make swimming unsafe or temporarily restricted. Always follow signage, check local health advisories, and use common-sense precautions for temperature and depth before entering the water.
