*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Carver Lake in Minnesota experiences a wide range of surface temperatures through the year because of the northern climate and variable weather. In spring the lake typically warms from near freezing to about 35–55°F (2–13°C) as ice melts and air temperatures rise. Summer brings the warmest water, with surface readings commonly in the 65–80°F (18–27°C) range on sunny days, though shallow bays can heat even higher and deeper spots remain cooler. During fall the surface cools again to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) before the lake refreezes; in winter the water near the ice commonly sits just above 32–36°F (0–2°C) and much of the lake is ice-covered for extended periods.
Swimming at Carver Lake is generally feasible in the open-water months because summer surface temperatures reach comfortable ranges for recreational bathing. Whether swimming is allowed depends on local park rules, posted signage and water-quality advisories; many lakes permit swimming at designated access points but may lack lifeguards. Seasonal considerations matter: cold spring or fall water increases risk of cold-shock and reduced endurance, and summer algal blooms or poor water quality can make swimming unsafe. Always check local guidance, observe posted warnings and use common-sense water safety when entering the lake.
