*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Owasso, a modest urban lake in Ramsey County, typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to shallow Twin Cities lakes. In spring as the ice clears and the water warms, surface temperatures commonly range from about 40–60°F (4–16°C). By early summer the lake often reaches 60–70°F (16–21°C), and in mid to late summer surface readings commonly sit between roughly 70–80°F (21–27°C), with occasional warm spells pushing parts of the surface into the mid-80s°F (around 29°C). During fall the water cools back through the 50s and 60s°F (10–20°C) and by winter, beneath ice or near the surface, temperatures are near freezing to just above it, roughly 32–39°F (0–4°C).
Swimming in Lake Owasso is generally possible at shoreline and designated beach areas when conditions permit, but it is governed by local rules, beach hours and water-quality advisories. Safety and suitability for swimming depend on factors such as water temperature, recent weather, bacterial or algal blooms, and municipal monitoring; cold spring or late‑season water can be hazardous for unacclimated swimmers, and summer blooms or storm runoff may prompt temporary advisories. Visitors should follow posted guidance from local authorities before entering the water.
