*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake De Montreville, located in Washington County, Minnesota, is a small but attractive freshwater lake surrounded by wooded areas and summer cottages. Its water temperature reflects the distinct seasonal climate of the Upper Midwest. In early spring, the lake remains cold, with water temperatures around 45–55°F (7–13°C) as the ice cover melts. By early summer, surface temperatures climb to between 68 and 75°F (20–24°C), and during July and August, the lake can reach highs near 78°F (26°C) in shallow areas. As autumn arrives, cooling air temperatures bring the water back down to about 55°F (13°C) before the lake eventually freezes in winter, when water beneath the ice hovers just above 32°F (0°C).
Swimming in Lake De Montreville is allowed and commonly enjoyed during the warmer months. The lake’s modest size and clear, calm waters make it especially suitable for families and recreational swimmers. Designated swimming areas and local camps use the lake for lessons and leisure activities throughout the summer. Because of Minnesota’s relatively short warm season, the best swimming conditions typically occur from late June through August. Outside of this period, the water becomes too cold for comfortable swimming, though the lake remains popular for fishing and other non-swimming recreation.
