** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Cutler Reservoir, an impoundment on the Bear River in northern Utah, tends to have cool water for much of the year. Typical winter surface temperatures hover near freezing, roughly 32–40°F (0–4°C). In spring the water slowly warms to about 40–55°F (4–13°C) as snowmelt and runoff dominate. By summer, shallow areas and sun-warmed surface layers commonly reach about 65–75°F (18–24°C) on warm afternoons, though deeper pockets remain noticeably colder. In autumn the reservoir cools again to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) as air temperatures drop and mixing increases.
Swimming is not a primary use of Cutler Reservoir, and while informal swimming sometimes occurs, it is less common than boating or fishing. Reasons include generally cool water temperatures outside peak summer, potential water-quality issues such as runoff or algal blooms at times, boat traffic and submerged hazards near structures, and areas managed for wildlife where access may be restricted. There are also safety concerns about cold-water shock even in summer if venturing into deeper water. If you plan to swim, check local signs and management rules, be aware there are no lifeguards, and take standard precautions for cold water and boating activity.
