Mornos Lake (Τεχνητή Λίμνη Μόρνου) is a man-made reservoir in western Greece that supplies drinking water and supports hydroelectric and irrigation needs. Surface water temperatures follow seasonal patterns typical of Mediterranean inland reservoirs and vary with weather, depth and inflow. Typical ranges at the surface are roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in winter, about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) in spring, approximately 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in summer, and around 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) in autumn. Deeper layers remain noticeably cooler year-round, so overall thermal stratification is common in warmer months and can lead to colder bottom temperatures than those at the surface.
Swimming in the Mornos reservoir is generally not permitted because it is an important source of potable water and is managed to protect water quality and infrastructure.
