*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pühajärv is a small, clear lake in southern Estonia popular for recreation, and its water temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern of temperate Baltic lakes. In spring the surface usually warms from around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and sunlight increases. Summer brings the warmest conditions, commonly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) and occasionally up to about 25 °C (77 °F) during heat spells, making swimming most comfortable between June and August. In autumn the surface cools again to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), and in winter the water sits near freezing under ice, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
Swimming in Pühajärv is permitted and widely practiced because there are public bathing spots and the lake is regularly used for leisure, with local monitoring of water quality during the bathing season. Opportunities are best in summer when temperatures are warm enough for prolonged swims; outside that period the water can be brisk and brief dips are more common. Winter ice swimming occurs but is undertaken only by experienced and properly equipped people because of the risks associated with very low water temperatures and ice conditions. Visitors should observe local advisories and safety measures before entering the water.
