*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Rēzekne (Rēzeknes ezers) is a typical Latvian lowland lake whose surface temperatures follow the seasonality of the region. In spring the water is cold, often ranging from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as snowmelt and cool air temperatures keep the lake chilly. Summer brings the warmest surface layers, commonly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in July and August on warm years, though shallow bays can warm slightly more. In autumn the surface cools again, typically falling through 15–6 °C (59–43 °F) as air temperatures drop, and in winter the lake usually approaches freezing; under ice the water is near 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) until thaw.
Swimming in Lake Rēzekne is generally permitted, especially at designated bathing spots and public beaches where authorities monitor water quality during the bathing season. Access and recreational use are allowed because the shoreline includes public recreation areas and local management checks for hazards such as bacterial contamination or cyanobacterial blooms; advisories or temporary closures may be issued if conditions are unsafe. As with any northern lake, swimmers should be mindful of cold-water shock in spring and autumn, follow posted safety information, and avoid entering ice-covered water except at supervised winter swimming sites with proper safety measures.
