** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Rušons (Rušons) typically follows the seasonal temperature pattern common to Latvian lowland lakes. In spring, as ice melts and air temperatures rise, surface waters usually range from about 4 to 12 °C (39 to 54 °F). During the summer months surface temperatures often warm to roughly 16 to 22 °C (61 to 72 °F), though shallow bays can be a few degrees warmer on sunny days. In autumn the water cools back to approximately 6 to 15 °C (43 to 59 °F) before freezing. In winter the lake is generally at or near 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) beneath any ice cover, with solid ice forming in colder periods.
Swimming in Lake Rušons is commonly possible and used by locals during the warmer months, particularly at informal or designated bathing spots where access is safe. Whether swimming is advisable depends on seasonal temperatures, water clarity, and local safety measures; summer conditions are most comfortable for casual swimmers, while spring and autumn waters can be uncomfortably cold and increase the risk of cold-water shock. In winter the lake is not suitable for ordinary swimming, although ice swimming is occasionally practiced with proper equipment and supervision. Visitors should follow local signage, check for lifeguards or designated beaches, and be mindful of depth, currents, and underwater vegetation.
