*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Eša (Eša ezers) in Latvia typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to small northern European lakes. After ice melt in spring the water is cold, roughly 0–10 °C (32–50 °F) through April and May. In summer the surface temperature usually rises to a comfortable range for bathing, commonly about 16–24 °C (61–75 °F), with the warmest weeks sometimes approaching the mid‑20s °C (mid‑70s °F) in shallow bays. During autumn the lake cools again to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as air temperatures drop, and in winter the water beneath ice is near freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), making normal swimming unsafe.
Swimming at Eša ezers is generally possible and commonly practiced in summer because it is a freshwater body with temperatures that can be pleasant for recreational bathing. Whether you may swim in a particular spot depends on shoreline ownership, local regulations and any posted advisories about water quality or safety; some areas may have designated bathing sites while others are informal. Seasonal factors make swimming inadvisable outside the warm months: cold shock and hypothermia are risks in spring and autumn, and ice cover in winter prevents ordinary swimming. As always, check local notices and exercise usual safety precautions before entering the water.
