*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Lubāns is Latvia’s largest inland water body and is relatively shallow, which affects how its water temperatures change through the year. In winter the surface usually freezes and temperatures are around 0 °C (32 °F) under ice. During spring, as the ice breaks up and meltwater flows in, typical surface temperatures range from roughly 2–10 °C (35.6–50 °F). In summer the lake warms more noticeably than deeper lakes, with common swimming-season readings around 16–24 °C (60.8–75.2 °F); during hot spells temperatures can climb toward the mid-20s °C (around 77–80 °F). In autumn the surface cools again, often dropping into the 8–15 °C (46.4–59 °F) range before freeze-up.
Swimming in Lake Lubāns is physically possible in many places, but whether it is recommended depends on local conditions and rules. There are no universal bans, yet access can be limited by reed beds, muddy shores and transient water-quality problems such as algal blooms driven by nutrient runoff; these issues can make some spots undesirable or unsafe for bathing. Municipalities and local signage govern designated bathing areas and issue advisories when bacterial counts or algal scums pose health risks, so swimmers should follow posted guidance and check current local information before entering the water.
