*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Juglas, located on the northeastern edge of Riga, experiences a marked seasonal cycle in water temperature typical for Latvian inland waters. In spring (April–May) the lake commonly warms from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice breaks up and runoff cools the surface. By early summer (June) temperatures often reach 15–19 °C (59–66 °F), with July and August usually seeing the warmest conditions around 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) depending on air temperature and sunshine. In autumn (September–October) the surface cools again to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) before winter brings ice cover; under-ice temperatures stabilize near 1–4 °C (34–39 °F) while the surface may be at or just below 0 °C (32 °F) when frozen.
Swimming in Juglas Lake is generally permitted and is a common recreational activity in summer because of the relatively warm surface temperatures and accessible shores. Designated beaches and recreation spots are used for bathing, though local authorities may close areas temporarily for water-quality reasons or safety, so observing posted signs and advisories is important. Some people also practice winter ice swimming in prepared holes, but that requires proper equipment, supervision and awareness of ice thickness and health risks. Overall, summer swimming is the typical season for most visitors.
