*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Drūkšiai, the largest lake in northeastern Lithuania near the Ignalina area, experiences seasonal water temperatures typical of large, temperate lakes but with some local variation. In spring the surface usually warms from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and the sun gains strength. Summer surface temperatures commonly range from roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in average years; in particularly warm summers parts of the lake can reach mid to high twenties, occasionally approaching 26–28 °C (79–82 °F) near shallow bays or former cooling outflows. Autumn cooling brings surface temperatures down to around 6–15 °C (43–59 °F), and in winter the lake typically approaches freezing with 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) before ice cover forms.
Swimming in Lake Drūkšiai is generally permitted and the lake is used for recreation, but conditions and local rules matter. Historically the lake functioned as a cooling reservoir for the nearby Ignalina power plant, which produced warmer currents and led to some restricted zones; since the plant’s shutdown the thermal influence has lessened, yet temperature and water quality can still vary locally. Bathing is safe in designated areas when water quality is good, but swimmers should avoid discharge locations, heed signage, and be cautious in cold seasons when hypothermia or ice hazards are present.
