** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Avilys (Lithuanian: Avilys) is a small inland lake typical of northern Europe, so its temperatures follow the regional seasonal pattern. In spring (April–May) surface waters commonly rise from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt and cool rains give way to warming. Summer (June–August) offers the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures often between 17–24 °C (63–75 °F), and on hot spells occasionally reaching the mid-to-high 20s °C (mid-70s to low 80s °F). By early autumn (September) temperatures generally fall into the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) range, and in late autumn and winter the lake cools to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) with surface ice common during sustained cold periods; beneath ice the water remains close to 0–1 °C (32–34 °F).
Swimming in Lake Avilys is generally permitted because it is a public natural water body, but actual access and suitability depend on local conditions and any posted restrictions. In summer the temperatures are typically comfortable for recreational bathing; in cooler months swimming is limited by cold water and potential hazards such as low visibility, submerged objects and absence of lifeguards. Water quality can vary, so checking local advisories, avoiding areas after heavy rains, and taking standard safety precautions — not swimming alone, using flotation aids if needed, and being cautious about sudden depth changes — are recommended. Ice swimming should only be attempted with proper experience and precautions.
