*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Ala-Kintaus, located in Central Finland near Petäjävesi, is a clear and tranquil lake surrounded by forested hills and small rural settlements. The lake’s water temperature follows the typical inland pattern of Finnish lakes. In spring, after the ice melts, the surface remains cold at around 5–8 °C (41–46 °F). During early summer, the temperature gradually rises to 15–18 °C (59–64 °F), and in July it usually reaches 19–22 °C (66–72 °F). On particularly warm days, shallow bays can momentarily reach 23–24 °C (73–75 °F). As autumn approaches, the water cools quickly to below 10 °C, and the lake normally freezes by late November.
Swimming in Ala-Kintaus is allowed and considered pleasant during summer months thanks to its clean, clear water and peaceful natural setting. There are several informal swimming spots along the shore, often near cottages and small beaches. The gentle slopes and sandy areas make it suitable for families and casual swimmers. Because the lake is moderately shallow and well-sheltered, it warms faster than many larger lakes in the region, creating comfortable swimming conditions during July and August.
