Lake Kankarisvesi, located in Central Finland near Äänekoski, is a clear and moderately deep lake known for its calm surroundings and good water quality. The temperature of the lake varies significantly through the seasons, following typical Finnish inland patterns. In spring, after the ice melts, the surface water remains cold at about 5–8 °C (41–46 °F). During early summer, it warms gradually to around 14–17 °C (57–63 °F), and in July, the warmest month, the temperature usually reaches 19–22 °C (66–72 °F). On particularly hot days, shallow bays may briefly reach 23–24 °C (73–75 °F). By autumn, the water cools below 10 °C (50 °F), and the lake typically freezes by late November.
