** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Eikeren is a freshwater lake in the traditional Buskerud area of Norway whose surface temperatures vary considerably through the year. In spring the water is cold, commonly ranging from about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as ice melts and warming begins. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface temperatures around 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) on average and occasional warm spells pushing parts of the lake to roughly 22 °C (72 °F). In autumn the surface cools back to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), and in winter the lake is near freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice cover possible during cold periods.
Swimming in Eikeren is commonly practiced and generally permitted: Norway’s access rights mean recreational use of lakes is widespread, and there are informal bathing spots along the shoreline. Local conditions and signage should be observed because water quality, currents, underwater topography and boat traffic can vary from place to place. Cold water shock is a real hazard outside high summer, so appropriate precautions—gradual entry, wetsuits or flotation aids, and avoiding isolated spots—are advisable. Municipal restrictions or protected areas may apply in specific locations, so check local guidance before swimming.
