Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Debar Lake (Debarsko Ezero) is a large artificial lake in North Macedonia, created by damming the Black Drin River and noted for holding the largest volume of water in the country. Situated at an altitude of 587 meters, the water temperature of the reservoir is highly dependent on the season. Temperatures can fall to a minimum of around 3∘C in the coldest winter months, although the deep water retains some heat. During summer, the surface layer warms up significantly, with the maximum recorded temperature reaching approximately 23.9∘C.
Swimming in Debar Lake is generally allowed and practiced, particularly during the warm summer months near specific beaches and recreational areas like Debar Lake Beach. The relatively high maximum summer temperature makes it suitable for bathing. While the lake's water is utilized for hydropower and is influenced by river inflows, it is a recognized spot for water sports and swimming. Swimmers should be mindful of the significant depth and the powerful hydro-technical structures (the dam) that define the lake's environment, exercising caution away from designated swimming zones.
