Busija Lake, located in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina near the town of Derventa, is a small artificial lake surrounded by gentle hills and greenery. The lake was created for recreational and local water management purposes and has become a popular spot for fishing and relaxation. Its water temperature varies throughout the year depending on weather conditions. In winter, it stays cold, averaging 2–5°C. In spring, the temperature rises to 10–15°C, while in summer it reaches 22–26°C, occasionally up to 27°C in shallow areas. In autumn, the water gradually cools again to around 12–17°C.
Swimming in Busija Lake is allowed and quite popular during the summer months. The water is calm and clean, creating good conditions for bathing and leisure activities. The lake’s shores are easily accessible, and some areas are suitable for families and picnics. Since the lake is relatively small, the water warms up quickly in summer, making swimming comfortable. However, swimming outside the warm season is uncommon due to the lower temperatures.
