Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Shtip is a major city in the eastern part of North Macedonia, positioned along the middle course of the Bregalnica River. By the time the Bregalnica reaches Shtip, it has flowed from its cold mountain source into a region with a warmer, more continental climate. The water temperature here is distinctly seasonal. During the cold winter, the river's temperature is low, typically ranging from 4∘C to 8∘C. However, the high summer air temperatures in the Shtip valley allow the river to warm up considerably, with surface temperatures often reaching between 21∘C and 25∘C during the warmest period.
Swimming in the Bregalnica River near Shtip is not permitted and is strictly discouraged by local authorities. Despite the appealing warm summer temperatures, the primary concern is severe water pollution. As the river flows past several towns and industrial areas before reaching Shtip, it accumulates a high concentration of untreated sewage and industrial discharge, severely compromising its hygienic safety. Consequently, the river is deemed unsafe for any recreational contact, including swimming, due to the high risk of infection and waterborne illnesses.
