Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Makedonska Kamenica is located in the eastern part of North Macedonia, situated close to the upper course of the Bregalnica River, which flows from the nearby Maleshevski Mountains. Due to its higher elevation and the river's mountainous source, the water temperature of the Bregalnica here remains significantly cooler throughout the year compared to the lower plains. In the winter, temperatures are very cold, typically falling between 1∘C and 5∘C. Even during the height of summer, the temperature rarely exceeds a refreshing 16∘C to 19∘C due to the constant inflow of cold mountain water.
Swimming in the Bregalnica River near Makedonska Kamenica is generally discouraged and not a widely practiced recreational activity. The main reasons are the persistently cold water temperatures which pose a risk of hypothermia, even on hot days, and the river's often swift currents characteristic of a mountain river. Additionally, as this is a natural, non-regulated watercourse, there are no designated swimming spots or safety services. While some locals may engage in brief, informal wading or cooling off, sustained swimming is neither officially permitted nor safe.
