*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kočani is situated in the Kočani Valley of North Macedonia, a fertile area irrigated by the Bregalnica River, which flows near the town. The river’s water temperature in this mid-section is subject to significant seasonal fluctuations characteristic of the continental climate. In the cold winter months, the Bregalnica's temperature drops to between 2∘C and 6∘C. During the summer, particularly in the shallow, slower-moving stretches within the valley, the water warms considerably, typically reaching temperatures between 18∘C and 22∘C in the peak heat.
Swimming in the Bregalnica River near Kočani is not officially recommended and is generally discouraged for public health reasons. Although the summer water temperature may be warm enough for bathing, the river in the Kočani area is known to suffer from water pollution. This pollution often originates from agricultural activities in the surrounding rice fields and historical municipal and industrial discharges upstream. Therefore, while some locals may engage in informal swimming, authorities advise against it due to the potential risk of infection from compromised water quality.
