Location & Local Information
Delčevo is a town in eastern North Macedonia, located on the upper course of the Bregalnica River, surrounded by the gentle slopes of the Maleševo Mountains. The Bregalnica in this area has a mountain-to-hilly character, with clear and cool water throughout the year. During winter, the temperature drops to around 2–5 °C, while in summer it rises to 17–21 °C, depending on the weather and water flow. The river remains relatively fresh even in the warmest months because it is fed by numerous small springs and mountain streams. Its clean water and natural setting make it an important feature of the Delčevo landscape.
Swimming in the Bregalnica near Delčevo is allowed but not very common due to the low temperature and varying depth. Locals sometimes swim or cool off in calmer, shallow areas during July and August when the water is at its warmest. However, most people use the riverbanks for relaxation, fishing, and picnics. The Bregalnica provides a refreshing atmosphere and is an ideal place for spending time in nature during the summer heat.
