*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Nikšić, located in central Montenegro, is surrounded by several freshwater bodies, including Krupac Lake, Slano Lake, and the Zeta River. These lakes are artificial reservoirs that serve both practical and recreational purposes. Due to the continental climate and moderate altitude of about 600 meters, water temperatures vary significantly throughout the year. In spring, lake temperatures range from 12 to 17 °C, while in summer they rise to 22–27 °C, depending on weather and depth. In autumn, they cool to around 15–19 °C, and in winter they often drop below 8 °C. The Zeta River remains slightly colder, averaging 10–15 °C in summer because of its strong flow and underground sources.
Swimming is allowed and popular, especially in Krupac and Slano Lakes, where the clear water and gentle banks make conditions ideal for bathing. During July and August, water temperatures are most comfortable for swimming, while in early summer and late autumn the water is refreshing but cool. Local residents and visitors enjoy swimming, kayaking, and fishing in these lakes. Surrounded by green hills and open landscapes, the lakes around Nikšić offer both relaxation and recreation, forming one of Montenegro’s favorite inland summer destinations.
