** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Llobregat, which runs from the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees to the Mediterranean near Barcelona, shows notable variation in water temperature along its course and through the seasons. In its upper, mountainous reaches temperatures can drop to around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) in winter, rise to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) in spring, reach about 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) in summer and fall back to 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) in autumn. Downstream, closer to the delta and urban areas, winter temperatures are milder, generally 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), spring 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), summer 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) and autumn 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). Local weather, snowmelt, reservoir releases and tidal influence near the mouth all affect these figures, so actual readings can vary day to day.
Swimming is possible in various stretches of the Llobregat but is not universally permitted or advisable. Some upstream pools and calmer bends are popular with locals in summer when water is warmer, while lower reaches can be affected by currents, infrastructure, occasional contamination and protected zones that restrict bathing. Authorities post signage and occasional advisories after heavy rain or pollution events; reservoirs and regulated sections may also prohibit swimming for safety. Anyone considering entering the river should check local rules, observe posted warnings and be mindful of temperature-related risks such as cold shock in early season and stronger currents in high-flow periods.
