** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Tordera River (in Spanish, Río Tordera) flows from the Montseny massif to the Mediterranean near Blanes, and its water temperature varies with the seasons and the river section. In winter the river is typically cold, roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). Spring temperatures usually rise to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall increase flow. In summer the lower reaches and estuary warm to more comfortable levels, commonly around 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), while shallow, sun-exposed pools can be slightly warmer. Autumn sees a gradual cooling to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) depending on recent weather. Local microclimates and sudden storms can produce short-term departures from these ranges.
Swimming in the Tordera is possible in several stretches, particularly in calmer lower reaches and near the mouth where conditions are milder, but it is not universally recommended everywhere. Some sections lie inside protected natural areas or are affected by variable water quality after heavy rains, and infrastructure such as weirs, strong currents and sudden depth changes present safety risks. For those considering a dip, summer temperatures are generally the most comfortable, while spring and especially winter waters can produce cold-water shock. It is advisable to check local signage and water-quality advisories and to choose established, safe access points.
