*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Río Francolí, which rises in the Prades Massif and flows to the Mediterranean near Tarragona, exhibits notable variability in water temperature along its course. In winter river temperatures commonly sit around 6–12 °C (43–54 °F); spring tends to warm to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). In summer the shallow, slow-moving or impounded sections can reach about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) and occasionally approach 27–28 °C (81–82 °F) in stagnant pools on hot days, while upstream, faster-flowing reaches remain cooler. Autumn generally cools back to approximately 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). These are approximate ranges and depend strongly on altitude, shading, recent rainfall, flow rate and the presence of reservoirs or small impoundments that can increase warming.
Swimming is possible in some stretches of the Río Francolí, particularly in upstream natural pools and locally designated bathing spots where water quality and depth are acceptable, but it is not universally allowed or advisable. Urbanized and downstream sections may be subject to contamination from runoff or discharges and to low flows, and authorities sometimes restrict bathing for health reasons; sudden storms can also create flash-flood hazards. Whether swimming is permitted therefore depends on local regulation and current water-quality reports, so it is important to heed signage and check conditions before entering the river.
