** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Segre, a river rising in the Catalan Pyrenees and flowing through varied landscapes, shows marked seasonal changes in water temperature. In high mountain reaches and during snowmelt, winter and early spring temperatures commonly sit between about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F). As the river descends into mid and lower reaches, winter values are a bit milder, roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). During late spring and early summer temperatures typically climb into the 10–18 °C range (50–64 °F), and in warm, slow-flowing stretches in midsummer they commonly reach 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), occasionally touching 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in sheltered reservoirs or pools. Autumn brings a progressive cooling, with temperatures often falling back to about 12–16 °C (54–61 °F) before winter lows return.
Swimming in the Segre is permitted in many places, especially at officially designated bathing sites and river beaches where local authorities monitor water quality and safety. However, not all stretches are suitable: strong currents, sudden depth changes, hydroelectric releases, dams and weirs, and variable water quality can make swimming unsafe or legally restricted in sections of the river. Visitors should use marked swimming areas, heed signage and local guidance, and be aware that colder sections—even in summer—can pose hypothermia risk and impair swimming ability.
